The Royal Hutt River Artillery of the Royal Hutt River Army was
created in 2005 as part of the 1st North American Royal Guards. The Colonel-in-Chief of the 1st Regiment of Royal
Artillery is the Sovereign of the Principality of Hutt River.
The Royal Hutt River Artillery was created with the following aims and purposes:
1. To provide a dramatic ceremonial salute capability
(using 19th Century-model muzzle-loading artillery cannons firing
blanks);
2. To represent the
Principality of Hutt River and RHRA in historical reenactments and
demonstrations of artillery;
3. To represent the
Principality of Hutt River and RHRA while building on existing relationships
with the US Field Artillery Association, the Royal Artillery Association of
the UK, and the Royal Canadian Artillery Association; and,
4. To establish and sponsor the Royal
School of Artillery as an educational arm of the Unit.
This school teaches the proper drill and safety procedures for
muzzle-loading artillery to other reenacting and ceremonial artillery units
and organizations world-wide.
