Distinctive Unit Insignia for the 1st NA Royal Guards
The 1st North American Royal Guards was established in 2005 as the military mission of the Royal Hutt River Army (RHRA) to North America (Canada and the United States of America) Brigadier General Edward Rupert, KRO, is the Commanding Officer.  Colonel William Speir, Jr., KRO, is the Executive Officer and Adjutant. 

We are a non-combative service, charged with ensuring the security of the Principality and performing the usual logistical functions associated with the armed forces when required.
We have a ceremonial role both in providing a Guard of Honour for the Sovereign, and participating in celebrations for Independence Day (April 21) and other important occasions.

In addition, we work actively actively with the Principality’s diplomatic community in charitable and security work.

Unit Mission:

Our mission is to advance the cause of obtaining official recognition of the Principality of Hutt River and the RHRA in our host countries of Canada and the United States of America.  This is accomplished by:

  1. Providing Humanitarian Aid (click HERE to see our Humanitarian Mission page);

  2. Providing military training and publications (click HERE to see the Royal Hutt River Military College site); and,

  3. Providing military and logistical consultative services.

Unit Purpose:

We serve the Sovereign of the Principality of Hutt River and advance his mission for closer relations with Canada and the United States of America to:

Unit Activities:

Perform the duties of the Royal Guard Units of the RHRA in North America; represent the Principality of Hutt River and RHRA while building closer relations with North American army forces; provide humanitarian aid to communities and individuals in need within our host countries of Canada and the United States of America; and, to oversee the activities of the Royal Hutt River Artillery and the Royal Hutt River Military College.
