American Royal Guards Home Page.
The 1st North American Royal Guards is committed to
providing humanitarian aid within our host countries of Canada and the
United States of American on behalf of the Principality of Hutt River and
its
Sovereign. This
aid is provided to communities in need, such as our Hurricane Katrina Relief
efforts, as well as to specific individuals in
need.
Humanitarian
Mission Purpose
The 1st North American Royal Guards shall provide
humanitarian aid, in the form of goods and services, to persons or
communities in need within its host countries of
Canada
and the
United States of America.
Humanitarian
Mission Goals and Objectives
The Goals
and Objectives of the 1st North American Royal Guard’s humanitarian mission
are:
-
To
relieve suffering and help those in need within the host countries of
Canada
and the United States
of America;
-
To
invite all Principality of Hutt River representatives and RHRDF officers
in North America to participate in humanitarian efforts to effectively
leverage the skills and qualifications of all Principality officials in
Canada and the United States of America, and to eliminate potential
duplication of effort which would reduce the effectiveness of delivering
needed services;
-
To
represent the Sovereign of the Principality of Hutt River and to raise
public awareness in the host countries of Canada and the United States
of America of the Sovereign’s role in humanitarian services around the
world; and,
-
To raise
public awareness of the RHRA and the 1st North American Royal Guards,
within the Principality and in the host countries of Canada and the
United States of America, of its role in humanitarian aid efforts and of
its successes in helping to relieve the suffering of those in need.
Humanitarian
Mission Programs
The following are the initial programs that are to be
included as part of the 1st North American Royal Guards’ humanitarian
mission.
All of the programs target individuals in need, and
while some services may be deployed to groups of individuals at the same
time, the focus of these services is on the individual.
Other programs will be added on an as-needed
basis once the needs have been identified.
-
Services for the
Displaced.
The current economic situation in North America has made the need for lost-cost housing
more important than ever.
The
1st North American Royal Guard officers
shall partner with Habitat for Humanity in their local areas to
participate in building new homes and communities.
-
Disaster Relief
Services.
When disasters strike (whether natural or man-made), the needs of
those affected by the disaster can quickly overwhelm the local,
regional, national, and global agencies that provide disaster relief.
As demonstrated by the unit’s participation in Hurricane Katrina
relief efforts, the unit will continue to provide transportation and
logistics services, volunteer services, and other services in
conjunction with other agencies on an as-needed basis.
-
Redeployment
Services.
With the was in Iraq and Afghanistan winding down, armed
forces personnel are returning to civilian life.
Many are finding the transition difficult, due to Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other situations.
The unit will continue to offer counselling to those suffering
from PTSD and will look to see how its current capabilities in
delivering these services can be expanded.
-
Services for
Special Victims.
In
the local communities of each unit officer, there are individuals and
families that have special needs due to extreme circumstances.
Wherever possible, unit officers will participate in efforts to support
these victims, either through direct activities or by supporting
agencies/initiatives that focus on providing the needed support
services.
Operation: Michelle, which is
an initiative for victims of domestic violence, is one example of an
initiative that many unit officers currently support. While not a
unit-sponsored or RHRA-sponsored initiative, Operation Michelle was
founded by two unit officers. Click
HERE for more
information about Operation Michelle.
The 1st
North American Royal Guards will continuously look at the changing needs
within each officer’s local community to identify where new opportunities
exist, either to provide existing unit services or to identify new services
to be provided by the unit within the host countries of Canada and the
Unites States of
America.
